Yellow Cat is Growing

Exciting things are happening in the Yellow Cat office! As you may have seen on our About page, we  have recently welcomed two new team members, Mary Broome and Lucy Brem. Both have  a unique skill set and love what they do, and we’re delighted to have them onboard.

We thought we’d give them this opportunity to introduce themselves:

Mary – Head of Freelance:

1) What are you bringing to the Yellow Cat team?

I joined Yellow Cat to lead the growing freelance department here. My background is in freelance recruitment: finding freelancers for advertising agencies, production companies and broadcasters. I am experienced with filling technical, project-based roles as well as pulling together whole teams for commercial projects, and I’m good with quick-turnaround for when those last minute jobs crop up! What I’m most excited about working here is developing lasting relationships; finding people work that they love doing, and introducing clients to freelancers who create exceptional content.

2) What are you working on at the moment?

We are expanding our community of freelance talent, so I’m on the look-out for more freelancers to join us for editing, motion graphics and animation positions. I want to make sure we can help with any requests whether they are last minute, long term, for something very technical or for someone multi-skilled and flexible. I’ve been chatting to freelancers with these hard-to-find skills and software experience to make sure we are able to help with every request.  I am speaking to production companies, advertising agencies and brands, and establishing what their needs are so we can make hiring freelancers easier for them.

3) If you could recruit yourself into any freelance role for the day, what would it be?

I would be absolutely useless at it, but I would love to be a VFX artist or a compositor for the day!  I love watching those kind of showreels and find it really interesting seeing the before and after.

Lucy –  Content, Creative & Social

1) What are you bringing to the Yellow Cat team?

This role is the perfect marriage of all my experience to date. I studied English Literature at university and have always loved to write, but my path after graduation led me into the recruitment industry.  With a couple of years experience under my belt, I’m now in a position where I understand the industry and can write great content in relation to it. I also bring my strong people skills and (somewhat obsessive) organisation to my work- both are already coming very much in handy!

2) What are you working on at the moment?

My main focus at the moment is writing and gathering a vast amount of content for publication on our Yellow Cat blog. This is a quickly growing resource hub with quality articles for both clients and candidates on offer- well worth checking out, particularly for those in the freelance world! I’m also doing some behind-the-scenes team support, and will shortly be looking to refresh our social media platforms and be much more active for our communities on there too. Make sure you’re following all our channels so you don’t miss out on the fun!

3) If you could recruit yourself into any freelance role for the day, what would it be?

I’d love to assist with a versioning project within post-production for a TV show or advert- I find it fascinating how much a piece of content may need to be adapted for different audiences or time periods!
