Our founder

Jonny Breeze is an experienced recruiter and a dedicated business leader with a passion for helping companies source the very best of talent to drive their business forward.

He started out gaining valuable experience in events, marketing and television, then moving on to recruitment in the creative industries.

It was during this time that he discovered his true calling, and on 9th November 2005 he took a bold step to create Yellowcat.

Quickly becoming a prominent and trusted name in the industry Jonny took on clients including ITV, VCCP, BBC Studios, Vice, PlayStation, 20th Century Fox, Alexander McQueen, Amazon, Disney, Cain&Abel, EE and many other giants of the UK creative industries. Jonny quickly established a robust creative network that spanned across both client and agency-side in advertising, production, design and video.

Alongside Yellowcat, Jonny supports and guides his candidates through their creative career journeys, with his venture: Jonny Breeze Career Coach.  Set up to allow candidates to benefit from his experience within the industry and utilise his in-depth understanding of creative careers and what it takes to be successful in a job hunt and interview process.

Outside of work Jonny is a gameshow jackpot winner, Maître d’ of pop-up restaurants, Charity Director and a determined runner – setting himself personal goals including running 5K everyday for 1,000 days straight (at the time of writing this, he is at 972). He takes requests from his runner-followers, including running 5k backwards dressed as James Bond in a DJ, something he attacked with gusto – just like everything else Jonny does.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

At Yellowcat, we take Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging very seriously.

As recruiters, we have a clear responsibility for the future careers of many candidates, and we do not take that responsibility lightly.

Here at Yellowcat we have invested in the importance of inclusive recruitment. We enjoy our training sessions which build the foundation for our supportive and inclusive future, as well as continue to embed our DEIB values. Yellowcat is based in Brixton, one of the most multicultural places in London, and we work in such an open and accepting field. Promoting inclusion and equality very much aligns to our company values.

So how do we make sure that we aren’t standing in the way of people going for job roles in this industry?

We apply our DEIB Pillars to ensure the integrity of our practice:

Our People & Culture – Our aim is that our workforce will genuinely represent all sections of society and that each employee feels respected and able to give their best.

Our Clients – We are a seamless partner to clients, supporting and driving their DEIB agenda and enabling them to achieve their goals.

Our Candidates – We always advocate for all candidates, especially those with any disadvantage, ensuring that the playing field is level and that we uphold an equitable recruitment experience.

Measurement – We will endlessly measure the impact of our efforts across qualitative and quantitative touchpoints.

How did we create our DEIB Pillars?

We had sessions of inclusivity training with the company Balance. Balance is an inclusive hiring consultancy that partners with organisations to achieve an inclusive and bias-free approach to recruitment. This is done through training, audits and change consultancy all led by founder Jennie Child. Our session included all team members including a colleague currently on maternity leave -along with a little baby who was a welcome honorary member of the Yellowcat team.

The result of work to build our values enabled us to see our strong suits in DEIB, what we are doing now, and key areas we can work on in order to be as inclusive as possible in the recruitment process. Coming up with the DEIB Pillars and our DEIB Vision was something everyone got involved with. We all came up with what we wanted Yellowcat to stand for. Given we’re a relatively small group, and all of us had a say, which meant that the values truly reflected every member of our team’s vision and ensured we were staying true to our commitment of inclusion. We now have an action plan with different members of the team being responsible for different deliverables. Our DEIB Vision and Pillars underpin our ongoing strategy, creating the framework for accountability and measurement. This encourages everyone’s voices to be heard and ensures we start to action our DEIB vision.

Our DEIB Vision

‘Proudly based in Brixton, London, Yellow Cat is a talent consultancy that passionately believes everyone deserves equal and equitable access to the creative industry. As a leader in our sector, we have a moral obligation to ensure our approach to recruitment is bias and barrier-free and inclusive for all, and we are enabling future generations of talent from historically under-represented backgrounds to access and thrive within this fantastic industry. We will look to continuously evolve and review our efforts, holding ourselves accountable at every stage, knowing that our work is never finished.’

Partnering with Create

We are extremely proud to support Create who we have partnered with since 2019. We are part of their Create the Difference membership scheme and our annual gift has a profound and long-lasting impact on the lives of the vulnerable children and adults Create work with – enabling them to plan long-term projects targeted at those most in need.

By selecting Create as our charity partner, it allows us to reinforce our company purpose and values, gives our team access to inspiring volunteering opportunities and workshop visits, and ignites our corporate responsibility goals.
